Obituary

ZELLA K. SHUBERT, 86, of Dexter, Kansas, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2012 at the Dexter Care Center.

Born on August 2, 1925 in Guymon, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Roy Edward and Helen (Pierce) Huddleston. She was raised and received her education in the Guymon and Texhoma areas. In 1953, Zella returned to high school where she completed her senior year. She then attended Panhandle State where she majored in English and received her bachelors degree. Zella taught in Yarbrough, Felt, Guymon, Woodward and Reydon Oklahoma.

She was united in marriage on September 22, 1941 to Pat C. Shubert in rural Texahoma who preceded her in death on March 15, 1991. She moved to Kansas in 2002 and resided at the Dexter Care Center.

Zella was a member of the James Church of God in Eva, Oklahoma. She enjoyed her grandchildren and reading.

Her family includes:
Her sons: Pat Shubert and wife Sue of Anderson, IN; and Ed Shubert and wife Marci of Winfield, KS;
Her 5 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Roy Joe Huddleston.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 P.M., Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon, Oklahoma.

A memorial has been established in Zella's name for the Central of Burden Music Department. Contributions may be sent to Miles Funeral Service, 4001 E. 9th, Winfield, KS 67156.
