Yvonne J. Shrader, 92, of Derby, Kansas, passed away Saturday evening, March 14, 2009 at Westview of Derby.
Born on October 16, 1916 in Elk Falls, Kansas, she was the daughter of Charles C. and Lulu M. (Fancher) McDiarmid. Her family moved to Howard while she was still a young girl. She was raised and received her education in Howard, graduating from Howard High School in 1947. She later attended and graduated from Springfield Business School in Springfield, Missouri.
Yvonne was united in marriage to Arthur H. Shrader September 7, 1947 in Howard. The couple made their first home in Howard where she worked as a legal secretary. In 1954 the couple moved to Winfield and she was able to stay home to raise the couple's children. In 1965 she began work as the Natural Science Division secretary at Southwestern College where she remained until retirement.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, and Methodist Church. She was also a lifetime member of Rebecca's Lodge. Her hobbies included playing the piano, singing, crocheting, knitting, and reading.

Her sons: Charles Shrader and wife, Sue of Austin, TX; Howard Shrader of Ponca City, OK;
Her daughter: Martha Jean Anderson and husband, Barney of Derby, KS; and
Her grandchildren: Michael Hutchison, Christopher Hutchison, Hannah Shrader Lopez, Amy Shrader, Ethan Shrader, Ruth Shrader Ontiveros, Levi Shrader, Isaac Shrader, Faith Shrader, Caleb Shrader, and Seth Shrader, Pamela Grey, Joseph Shrader, Amy Kenner, Stephanie Bruner, and her 10 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, and husband she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary and Helen McDiarmid.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in Yvonne's name for the Woodlawn United Methodist Church in Derby and Home Healthcare Connection in Derby. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
