Obituary

WUANITA B. BRUNTON, 78, of Burden, Kansas, passed away Tuesday evening, June 2, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Village in Winfield.

Born on July 11, 1930 in Jerome, Idaho, she was the daughter of Earl and Frances (Kelso) Hawley. She was raised and received her education in Hayward, California, and graduated from Hayward High School in 1948. Wuanita worked as a secretary for various businesses. She later was employed at the Liverman Nuclear Lab and had also resided in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In 1959, she moved to Cambridge, Kansas. She was united in marriage on December 12, 1959 to Beecher Brunton in Wichita, Kansas. The couple made their home in Burden and Wuanita was employed for USD #462 Central Burden as a secretary. She had also worked as a secretary at the Good Samaritan Village and retired in 1990.

She was a member of the Metropolitan Church in Wichita. Her hobbies included making bridal bouquets and tending her flower gardens.

Her family includes:
Her husband: Beecher of the home;
Her son: Randy Brunton and wife Sandy of El Dorado Springs, MO
Her brother: Conrad Hawley of Redding, CA;
Her grandchildren: Wes and Kendra; and
Her great-grandchildren: Dan, Joe and Riley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Doug Hawley; and her sisters, Wanda Philliparte and Jackie Muniz.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at the Cambridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M., Friday, June 5, 2009. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M., that evening.

A memorial has been established in Wuanita's name for the Alzheimer's Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
