Obituary

Wilma Jean Loomis, 90, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday morning, January 24, 2018 at Winfield Rest Haven.

Born January 2, 1928, she was the daughter John Albert and Minnie Ruth (Gardner) Waite. She was raised and received her education in Arkansas City, Kansas. Wilma married Edgar Eugene Beals in 1945 in Arkansas City, where they made their home. To this union two daughters were born. Mr. Beals preceded her in death in November of 1954. Wilma worked as a cab driver for Radio Cab Company from 1954 to 1966.

She was united in marriage to Tate C. Loomis on February 14, 1966 in Arkansas City. The couple remained in Arkansas City where Wilma was a devoted housewife and mother. Mr. Loomis preceded her in death on April 25, 1992. She was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and being with her family.

Her grandchildren: Larry Widener of Arkansas City; Scott Widener and wife, Stephanie of Arkansas City; Susan Evans and husband, Blaine of Winfield; Sherri Dunbar of Winfield; Jennifer Colclasure and husband, Andy of Winfield; Melissa Clark of Arkansas City; Janet Danler and husband, Michael of Oxford; Kelli Colgan of Wichita; Denise Morris and husband, Mike of Wichita; Sarah Black of Eureka Springs, AR; and
Her 31 great grandchildren and 38 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Wilma was preceded in death by granddaughters, Kathy Thurber and Michelle Colgan, a great granddaughter, Alicia Reed and a son-in-law, Mike Curnutt.

Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Friday, January 26, 2018 from 5 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 5 to 7 that evening.

A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
