Obituary

WILMA JUNELE "JUNE" FEELY, 84, of Topeka, Kansas, previously of Winfield, passed away Thursday night, October 9, 2008, at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka.

Born on September 19, 1924, in rural Cedar Vale, Kansas, she was the daughter of Jesse and Georgia Ann (Roland) Bartholomew. She was raised and educated in the Cedar Vale area, graduating from Cedar Vale High School.

June was united in marriage to Joe Van Feely in Enid, Oklahoma, on September 22, 1968. The couple made their home in Cedar Vale. They moved their family to Okinawa, Japan for two years while Joe was in the service. In 1971, they moved back to Cedar Vale. The couple made their home in Winfield in 1979. Mr. Feely preceded June in death on August 8, 1999. June remained in Winfield until November of 2001, when she moved to Topeka to live with her son.

She worked for the Winfield State Hospital. She took courses and became a licensed Mental Health Technician 2. After 19 and a half years, June retired. She was a member of the Community of Christ in Winfield, and was also an avid member of the Red Hat Society in Topeka.

Her family includes:
Her sons: Michael Swinney and wife, Kim of Topeka, KS; and James Swinney of Winfield;
Her granddaughter: Jessica Swinney; and
Her 2 great-grandchildren: Gabriel and Adrian.
In addition to her parents and husband, June was preceded in death by a son, David Swinney, and her two younger brothers.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2008, at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Inurnment will be held at Cedar Vale Cemetery on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5 to 9. The family will greet visitors from 6 to 7:30 that evening.

A Memorial has been established in Mrs. Feely's name for the Midland Hospice House in Topeka. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
