Obituary

Wilma "Elaine" Brooks, 77, of Wichita, Kansas, formerly of Atlanta, Kansas, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2017.

Born August 26, 1940 in Buffalo, Kansas, she was the daughter of John and Wilma (Moffatt) Caudell.  She was raised and received her education in Yates Center, graduating Yates Center High School in 1958.  She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Richard Brooks on June 4, 1960 in Yates Center.  The couple made their home in Atlanta, Kansas for many years.

Elaine worked over 25 years for the Central of Burden grade school as a Para.  She was a member of Cornerstone Christian Church in Atlanta.  She enjoyed music and loved to sing.  She enjoyed reading her bible, was a very devoted follower of Christ and a prayer warrior for her family.  She especially loved spending time with her family and always made sure her home was a place of fun and laughter for her grandchildren.

Her husband:  Richard Brooks of Wichita;

Her son:  Jay Brooks of Tulsa, OK;

Her daughters:  Pam Boucher and husband, Jack of Wichita; Sherri Oliver and husband, Mike of Harmony, NC;

Her brothers:  Charles Caudell and wife, Nancy of Hillsboro; Sheldon Caudell and wife, Ruth of Colony;

Her sister:  Shirley Driskill and husband, Milford of Neodesha;

Her grandchildren:  Bailey and Garrett Brooks, Chelsea Haley, Ryan Boucher, Ashley Warren, Alysia Eller, John Oliver;

Her great grandchildren:  Everly, Jack, Kate, Morgan and Emily Elaine; and

Her Numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by brothers, Bill Pennington and J.T. Caudell.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 9, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at the First Mennonite Brethren Church, 8000 W 21 st Street in Wichita.  Interment will follow at the Atlanta Cemetery in Atlanta, Kansas.  Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Sunday from 4 to 7 P.M.  The family will greet visitors from 4 to 6 that afternoon.

Memorials have been established in Elaine's name for Cornerstone Christian Church in Atlanta and for the Alzheimer's Association.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
