William "Otis" Lynes, 66, of Winfield, died January 10, 2022.
Otis was born July 31, 1955, in Sedan, KS, to Christopher Columbus and Audrie (Hodge) Lynes. He was raised and educated in Moline, KS.
He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1973-1977. When discharged, he went to work for Santa Fe Railway. He left Santa Fe and opened and operated Lynes Conoco Service until he semi-retired and moved his shop to the family home.
He was united in marriage to Christie Foote on January 25, 1979. To this union, two sons were born: Jeffrey and Joey.
Otis is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Aden, David Leon and David Lynn.
He is survived by his wife of the home, Christie; sons, Jeff of Winfield; Joey and wife, Kathy of Wichita; granddaughter, Amily of Wichita; grandsons, Braden of Winfield; Austin of Wichita; sister, Marcia of Chanute; brothers, Ronnie of Ponca City, OK; Paul of Oklahoma City, OK; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. A private family interment will take place at Highland Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors that evening from 5 to 7.
A memorial has been established in Otis' name for his grandchildren's education fund. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
