Obituary

William G. "Bill" Carson, Jr., 75, of Oxford, Kansas, passed away early Tuesday morning, December 8, 2015 at ManorCare in Wichita, Kansas.

Born May 21, 1940 in Oxford, Kansas, he was the son of William G. Carson, Sr. and Lola (Green) Carson. He was raised and received his education in Oxford, graduating from Oxford High School in 1958. He then attended trade school to become a Diesel Mechanic.

Bill married Diann Gann in Winfield in 1963. To this union, two children were born. The couple later divorced. Bill worked for the International Dealership in Wellington as well as farming the family farm in Oxford. He later owned and operated Carson's Trucking before going to work at General Electric. He retired from GE as a Machinist in 2010.

Bill was united in marriage to Mary McClure on April 23, 2005 on the family farm in Oxford, where the couple made their home. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Oxford, the NRA and the VFW. He enjoyed flying remote control airplanes, his English Bulldogs, and loved helping anyone in the country that needed his help.

His family includes:

His son: Lawrence Carson and Melissa of Ponca City, OK;
His daughter-in-law: Sherry White of Oxford;
His step daughters: Jessi Bannon and husband, Heath of Oxford; Becky Miller and husband, Josh of Haysville;
His mother: Lola Carson of Winfield;
His sisters: Francis Donley and husband, Robert of Greeley, CO; Pam Cofer and husband, Lonnie of Fairview, OK;
His six grandchildren, four great grandchildren; and
Numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, Bill was preceded in death by his son, Kit Carson.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery northwest of Winfield. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday evening from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors during that time.

A memorial has been established in Mr. Carson's name for First Baptist Church in Oxford. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
