Obituary

WILLIAM (BILL) DEAN DRENNAN, 71, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday afternoon, May 11, 2008 at William Newton Hospital in Winfield.

Born on December 14, 1936 in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Dean and Virginia (Kenreich) Drennan. He was raised and received his education in Winfield where he graduated from Winfield High School in 1954. Bill graduated from Southwestern College in May of 1958.

He was united in marriage on August 17, 1958 to Nancy Ann Priddle of Wichita at the First Presbyterian Church in Wichita. Bill then entered the armed services with the Army National Guard and after serving his initial six months of active duty he continued to serve his summer obligation through 1964.

Bill joined his father in business at D&D Farm Equipment and contributed to the long-time community business with his father, Dean, and brothers, Jerry and Robert as they expanded the local John Deere implement business at the west edge of Winfield through 2004 before retiring. He built his career around the expansion of the John Deere agriculture business and enjoyed supporting local growers and the regional farmers with the continuance of D&D products and services reaching far past the local area into foreign countries with the delivery of building products marketed through the business.

Bill was a lifetime member of Grace United Methodist Church and was an active member with the Stewardship committee, Trustees and Finance ministries. He was also involved in many community events and supported the Winfield Fair Association and the Walnut Valley Association through service and served as a Rotarian, a member of the Winfield Planning Commission and the Elks. Bill and Nancy enjoyed many family gatherings and traveled domestically and worldwide in the company of Nancy's parents, Clyde and Vesta Priddle who also accompanied the Drennan's (Dean and Virginia). Bill and Nancy had recently completed foreign trips with Nancy's brothers, John and Tony Priddle and wife Ruth Ann.

Throughout his life Bill enjoyed the company and conversation of his customers and friends and considered casual visits in the country with the company of his wife to be an enjoyable extension of his work. When at home Bill relied on family time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as the most treasured of his life's moments.

His family includes:
His wife: Nancy of the home;
His daughters: Shelley Bailey and husband Kerry of Winfield, KS; Shari Wampler and husband Jeff of Winfield, KS; and Stephanie Hoberecht of Dodge City, KS;
His brothers: Jerry Drennan and wife Peggy and Robert Drennan and wife Bwana, all of Winfield, KS;
His 10 grandchildren: Casey Biddle and husband Tyson, Jaden Bailey and fiance' Kelsi, Tanner Bailey, Courtney, Taylor, Kolbi and Kayla Wampler, Alyx, Brendon and Isaac Hoberecht; and 2 great-grandchildren: Laython and Bryson Biddle.
