Obituary

WILLIAM LUTHER "BILL" WILSON, 66, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away suddenly, Tuesday morning, February 26, 2013 at his home.

Born August 7, 1946 in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Alva Tirl and Bertha (Mann) Wilson. He was raised and received his education in Winfield. Bill joined the United States Army on October 11, 1967. He served as an Airplane Wheel Specialist during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1970.

Bill married Wilma Sturges in 1967 in Wellington. To this union, three children born, and the couple later divorced.

He was united in marriage to LaWayne June Flaming on April 22, 1983 in Miami, Oklahoma. Bill worked in the oil industry all his life. He worked for Big Four, Pool Well Service, Petroleum Enterprise, West Dale Incorporated, Jerry's Well Service, Diversified Rubber and Hennessey Oil Well Service. He began working in 1990 for B&S Well Service. He was currently working there as a rig operator.

Bill was involved with the Boy Scouts of America Troop #318. He enjoyed fishing, camping, playing softball, participating in Demolition Derbys and loved to bowl.

His brothers and sisters: Richard Wilson and wife, Debbie; Allen Wilson; Perry Wilson; Joe Wilson and wife, Katie; Mike Wilson and wife, Mary, June Spencer; Kay Paxton and husband, David; Bonnie Bellew and husband, Steve; Patty Helphingstine and husband, Bill; and Alvalene Jones all of Winfield; Don Wilson and wife, Shirley of Dexter; and Elaine McHenry of Otis, KS;
His grandchildren: Jimmy Clay, Brent, Kali, Jessica, Specialist E4 Matthew, Brandon, Brittany, Merika, Sarah, Alex, Alyna, and Logan; and
His great grandchildren: Layla, McKenna, Avery, Evelyn, and Cayden.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Michelle Renee Wilson, his son, William Luther Wilson, and his brothers, Jack, Marvin "Pete", Howard, Wesley and Adam Wilson, and his sister, Joan Marlow.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment and Military Committal Honors will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday evening from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors during this time.

Memorials have been established in Bill's name for Boy Scouts of American Troop #318 and Bowl For Kids Sake. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
