Obituary

WARREN J. HASLOUER, 91, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday morning, August 18, 2012 at the Kansas Veterans Home in Winfield.

Born on October 14, 1920 in Abilene, he was the son of Joseph Alexander and Rosa Marie (Koestle) Haslouer. He was raised and received his education in Abilene and graduated from Abilene High School in 1938. As a young man, Warren began farming which became his lifelong passion.

A veteran of World War II., Mr. Haslouer proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

Warren was united in marriage to Joan Williams on March 26, 1965 in Miami, Oklahoma. The couple lived in Geuda Springs, Kansas and later Cedar Vale, Kansas. The couple moved to Winfield in 2004. In addition to farming, Warren was a world renowned breeder of Blue Tick coon dogs. Actor Jimmy Stewart had purchased some from him.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #10 and Veterans of Foreign Wars #3544. Warren was also a member of the AKC & UKC Blue Tick Associations. He enjoyed coon hunting, bear hunting and lion hunting with his Blue Tick dogs.

His son: Steve Haslouer and wife Susan of Parkerfield, KS;
His step-daughters: Vickie Johnson and husband Phil of Wellington, KS; and Mary Avey and husband Neal of Tonkawa, OK;
His sister: Arlene Davis of Kansas City, MO;
His half-brother: Paul Strunk and wife Dena of Rockport, TX;
His grandchildren: LeAnn, Heidi, Gretchen, Dean, Rick, Bonnie, Andrea, Chris and Travis; and
Several great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Warren Lee Haslouer; and his sister, Lydia Hargraves.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Military committal honors will follow at Parker Cemetery, east of Arkansas City, Kansas. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 22, 2012. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M., that evening.

A memorial has been established in Warren's name for Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
