W. KEITH MOUNT, 89, of Sedan, Kansas, passed away Monday morning, February 21, 2011 at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Sedan.
Born on May 3, 1921 in Kansas City, Kansas, he was the son of George and Margaret (Watsonburger) Mount. The family moved to Burden, Kansas where he received his early education. They later moved to Wichita, Kansas before returning to Burden where he graduated from Burden High School.
A veteran of World War II., Mr. Mount proudly served his country in the United States Marines. Following his honorable discharge he returned to Burden.
He was united in marriage to Veda Marie Rowe in March of 1944 in Oklahoma. Keith farmed and worked various jobs until beginning employment at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita as a firefighter. In the early 1960's he worked for Central of Burden as a bus driver and also held the title of Burden City Marshall. Keith later went to work for Kansas Department of Transportation in the maintenance department and retired in 1980. Mrs. Mount preceded him in death in 1977.
Keith married Lola M. Anderson on October 28, 1982 in Miami, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in rural Sedan. He had resided at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center since February of 2010.
He attended the Burden United Methodist Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post#10, Kansas Masonic Lodge in Wichita and a lifetime member of the Blue Lodge in Burden. His hobbies included toy farm equipment and traveling.

His step-daughter: Carol Dougherty and husband Jim of Winfield, KS;
His grandchildren: Greg, Shawn and Matthew Mount and Randi Carpenter;
His great-grandchildren: Gavin, Emme, Jaden and Logan Mount; Ethan and Nathan Mount; and Stetson, Kelsey Belle and Caden Carpenter; Katie, Dakota and Dalton.
In addition to his parents and his first wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Vickie Mount; and his sister, Mildred Ravenstien.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Military committal honors will follow at the Burden Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 23, 2011.
Memorials have been established in Keith's name for Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Coffeyville, Kansas and the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
