Vivian Mae Pearce, 95, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday evening, July 22, 2023, at her home.

Born November 12, 1927 in Argonia, Kansas, she was the daughter of Irwin J. and Esther M. (Walker) Funk.  She was raised and received her education in Argonia, graduating  as valedictorian from Argonia High School in 1945.

On August 4, 1946, Vivian married her high school sweetheart Derrel Glenn Pearce at the First Baptist Church in Argonia.  The couple made their first home in Argonia. To this loving union were born two sons and four daughters.

The family moved to Winfield, Kansas, in 1954.  Together with her husband, Vivian worked for Snodgrass and Funk Construction Company.  She served as the bookkeeper for 45 years.  Derrel preceded her in death on November 7, 2018.

Vivian was a member of the First Baptist Church in Winfield.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting, fishing, and camping in the couple's fifth wheel.

Her family includes her children, John Pearce and wife, Aletha of Mesa, AZ; Teresa Moore and husband, Gary of Arkansas City; Carol Cummings and husband, Max of Cedar Vale; Kathy Fox and husband, Roger of Winfield; Marsha Wesseler and husband, Arlon of Winfield; Mark Pearce and wife, Cindy of Dripping Springs, TX; three sisters-in-law; her 13 Grandchildren, 17 Great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to her parents and loving husband of 72 years, Vivian was preceded in death by a sister Marjorie Marsh, and a granddaughter Natalie Pearce.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August  1, 2023, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield.  Interment is scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Argonia Cemetery.  The family will greet visitors at Miles Funeral Service on Monday evening from 4 to 6 P.M.

A memorial has been established in Vivian's name for the First Baptist Church of Winfield.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
