Obituary

Virginia Stark, 85, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday morning, March 1, 2022, at her home.

Born September 2, 1936, in Houston, Texas, she was the daughter of Phillip Norvin and Maxie Elizabeth (Fuller) Tucker.  She was raised and received her education in Houston, graduating from Reagan High School in 1954.  During school, she was active in the Girl Scouts, receiving the Gold Award.

Virginia was united in marriage to Carl Alfred Stark on June 17, 1954, in Houston.  The couple made their first home in Houston before moving to Corunna, Michigan in 1959.  While in Michigan, Virginia worked as an Insurance Solicitor, but her true calling was that of a Bible School Teacher.  Al and Virginia helped plant and build M21 Church of Christ.  Virginia was an accomplished children's Bible School Teacher, writing curriculum for Sunday School.  After Al's retirement, the couple moved to east Texas in 1987 where they served for the local Church of Christ. Al preceded her in death on March 21, 1992.  Virginia began working at Farmers Insurance in Houston, where she remained until retiring as a Regional Solicitor.  After retiring, she traveled spending time with each of her children, living in North Carolina, Nebraska, Michigan, and Kansas.

Virginia was a member of the Church of Christ.  She enjoyed and spent her life serving others. Her and Al had a special calling serving grieving families during their time of loss.

Her family includes her sons, Duward Stark and wife, Sheree of Dawson Creek, Canada; William "Rusty" Stark and wife, Laura of Carlisle, PA; her daughters, Laurie Briggs of York, NE; Wendy Wells and husband, Todd of Winfield, KS; Anita Jones and husband, JJ of Morganton, NC; and her 12 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Virginia was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.

Virginia will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.  Local arrangements are under the direction of Miles Funeral Service. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022, at 11:00 am at the East Hill Church of Christ, 1122 N Delaware Ave, York, NE.
