Virginia "Louise" Hostetter, 67, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday evening, November 29, 2018.
Born December 6, 1950 in Arkansas City, Kansas, she was the daughter of Harold and A. Virginia "Quisenberry" Peters. She was raised in Geuda Springs and received her education in Oxford. She graduated Oxford High School in 1968. Following high school, she attended Cowley County Community College and Emporia State University where she received her Teaching Degree. She made her career as a teacher at Oxford grade school.
Louise was married to Curtis Crain. The couple had two children, Amy and Wade, and later divorced, but remained friends. She was united in marriage to Marvin Hostetter on April 16, 1992 at Hackney Baptist Church. The couple made their home on a farm south of Winfield.
Louise was a member of Hackney Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Her family includes her husband Marvin of Winfield; her daughter Amy White and husband, Brian of Winfield; her son Wade Crain and wife, Kristy of Manhattan; her brothers, Steven Peters and wife, Mayleen of Cape Coral, Florida; Robert Peters of Tyler, TX; and her grandchildren, Riley, Macy, and Connor White, and Kaden, Kinley, and Kyndal Crain.
In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her step-daughter, Mandy Hostetter.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Central Baptist Church in Winfield. Interment will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, December 5, 2018 from 5 to 8 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 that evening.
Memorials have been established in Louise's name for Hackney Baptist Church and for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
