Obituary

VIRGINIA EARLS, 77, of Ponca City previously of Winfield, passed away early Tuesday morning, March 6, 2012 at her home in Ponca City.

Born October 5, 1934 in Anthony, Kansas, she was the daughter of William Riley and Mary Elizabeth (Corzine) Lewis. She was raised and received her education in Anthony. As a young lady, she was involved with 4-H and loved to sing and play the French Horn in the band.

Virginia was united in marriage to Virgil Leon Earls on June 27, 1951 at the Church of God in Anthony, Kansas. She worked at William Newton Hospital in housekeeping for several years. She then worked at the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center as a cook. Later, Virginia went to school and became a manager for the local Taco Tico. She then went back to being a cook with the Winfield Good Samaritan Nursing Home. Virgil preceded Virginia in death on May 18, 2000.

Mrs. Earls was affiliated with the Latter Day Saints Church in Ponca City and in Winfield. She enjoyed fishing, crocheting, all kinds of movies and playing video games, especially Donkey Kong. Virginia loved collecting angels and attending family gatherings.

Her family includes:
Her sons: Billy Earls and wife, Brenda of Winfield; David Earls and wife, Shelly of Harper;
Her daughters: Jannie Metzen of Wellington; Mary Williams and husband, Dan of Winfield; Marilyn Wedd and husband, Russell of Winfield; Beverly Brown and husband, Andy of Ponca City, OK;
Her half brother: Bill Lewis of Ogden, UT;
Her 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandson.

Virginia was preceded in death by her father, William Lewis, her mother, Mary Albert, her husband, Virgil, and her sisters, Zora Garnett and Patricia Quick.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 4 to 8.

A Memorial has been established in Virginia's name to help defray funeral expenses. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
