Virginia P. Champlin, 86, passed away in the early hours Monday, April 27, 2015 at Riverview Manor in Oxford, Kansas.
Born March 7, 1929 near Leedy, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Thomas and Ollie Ponder. Virginia attended Leedy High School and graduated in 1945 at the age of 16. She attended what is now Southwestern College in Weatherford, Oklahoma where she obtained a teaching certificate. In short order, she moved to Dexter, Kansas to begin her teaching career.
She was married to Merl D. Champlin in 1955. The couple made their home north of Cedar Vale. Virginia taught high school business classes often for two generations of a family. Merl preceded her in death on November 2, 2012.
She was a long standing member of the Cedar Vale Church of Christ.

Daughter: Kathi C. Shipley of Austin, TX;
Grandchildren: Marc Champlin and wife, Chelsy; Jon Champlin and wife, Michelle; Erin Champlin and partner, Trevor Ridgeway; Brett Champlin; Dustin Shipley; Garrett Champlin; and Weston Champlin.
Great Grandchildren: Bryntley Ridgeway and Max Champlin
Memorial services will be held at the Cedar Vale Church of Christ on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. Inurnment will follow at the Caneyville Cemetery. Miles Funeral Service in Winfield, Kansas is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
