Viola Setzkorn, 97, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Monday morning, October 10, 2016 at Cumbernauld Village in Winfield.
Born August 22, 1919 in Timken, Kansas, she was the daughter of Edward and Bertha (Erb) Sell. She was raised in Timken and received her education in Bison, Kansas graduating from Bison High School in 1935. She later received her associates degree from Salt Lake Business College in Hutchinson, Kansas.
Viola was united in marriage to Elmer Setzkorn on January 4, 1941 in Bison, Kansas. The couple made their first home in Great Bend. When Elmer was called to serve his country, Viola followed him to Florida for his basic training and remained by his side wherever he was stationed, including Washington D.C. and Maine. Upon Elmer's honorable discharge, the couple moved to Winfield, Kansas where they ran a Gamble Hardware Store. In 1950, they bought a farm near Rock, Kansas and the couple continued to farm this land until Elmer's death on April 1, 2003. Viola remained on the farm another two years, before moving to Winfield in 2005.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Winfield. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, canning, playing cards, cooking and made the best cinnamon rolls.

Her sons: Roger Setzkorn and wife, Shirley of Arkansas City; Ronald Setzkorn and wife, Sherry of Winfield;
Her daughter: Brenda Goff of Winfield;
Her grandchildren: Travis Setzkorn, Troy Setzkorn, Ryan Setzkorn, Erik Goff, Kaycie Goff, Greg Setzkorn and Michael Setzkorn; and
Her ten great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Viola was preceded in death by her brother, Russell Sell, a grandson, Jason Goff and a great granddaughter, Caitlin Setzkorn.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at Highland Cemetery in Winfield. All friends are welcome. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established in Viola's name for Trinity Lutheran Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
