Vicki Sue
Hittle
July 15, 1940 – January 1, 2021
Vicki Sue Hittle, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday, January 1, 2021 at her home.
Born July 15, 1940 in Anthony, Kansas, she was the daughter of Victor and Evelyn (Scott) Garvin. In 1953, her family moved to Wellington, Kansas, and Vicki graduated from Wellington High School in 1958. She then graduated from William Newton Memorial School of Nursing in 1961. She continued to take classes at Wichita State and Southwestern College, and earned a Bachelors in Nursing Administration from Southwestern.
Vicki was united in marriage to H.T. Hittle on June 24, 1962 at the Presbyterian Church in Wellington. The couple made their home in Winfield where Vicki worked in nursing for 40 years. She retired from William Newton Memorial Hospital after many years as Director of Nursing and Director of Volunteers, retiring in 2002. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Winfield and continued her passion to serve others as a volunteer for the American Red Cross, Helping Hands, and the Winfield Loan Closet.
Family was everything to Vicki, preparing months in advance for the annual family reunion, held during the Bluegrass Festival. She will be most fondly remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Being 'Mom-mom' to her two grandchildren gave her the greatest joy.
Her family includes her husband H.T. Hittle of Winfield; son Todd Hittle of New York City; daughter Shona Woods and son-in-law, Eric Woods of Winfield; her two grandchildren, Regan and Adam Woods; cousins Pam Wilson, Sandy Aston and husband Bill; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Vicki was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Lana Wollesen.
