VERONA A. (BRIGGS) ANGLEMYER, 101, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday morning, May 21, 2014 at Winfield Resthaven.
Born on December 29, 1912 in Wilsey County, Kansas, she was the daughter of Clinton T. and Bertha A. (Bersuch) Gnagey. She graduated from Leon High School in 1930.
Verona was united in marriage to Russell F. Briggs on July 3, 1931 in El Dorado, Kansas. She worked in ladies ready to wear for 37 years. She was manager of the ladies wear department at CR Anthonys for 18 years. Verona also worked at Kerr's, Kings, JC Penney and was employed at Litwin's when she retired at the age of 82. Mr. Briggs preceded her in death on March 26, 2001.
She married Joe Anglemyer on June 15, 2002 in Winfield and he preceded her in death on July 25, 2013.
She was a member of Cornerstone Bible Fellowship Church and was rebaptized at the age of 89. Verona had also been a member of the Walnut Valley Presbyterian Church and had been involved in several activities including the Ladies Aide Society. Her hobbies included her family, gardening, canning, baking, sewing and oil painting. Verona also enjoyed music and playing the banjo.

Her grandchildren: David Finley and wife Dot, Lori Peters and husband Wayne, Terri Young and husband Brad, and Mark McArtor and wife Tina;
Her great-grandchildren: Jared Peters and wife Chelsey, Ashley Hall and husband Zach, Matthew Finley, Krista Finley, Kaitlyn Finley, Peyton Herlocker, Sydney Herlocker, Aubrey Herlocker, Erin McArtor, and Kenzie McArtor;
Her step-great-grandchildren: Alex, Bailey and Jack Young; and
Her great-great-granddaughter: Ella Victoria Hall.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her son, Norman Briggs, and her sister, Frances Penland.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials in Verona'a name be made to Cornerstone Bible Fellowship Church or the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
