Obituary

Vernon Harold Terrell, 72, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday morning, January 21, 2014 at William Newton Hospital.

Born May 23, 1941 in Cambridge, Kansas, he was the son of Harold and Margaret (Sutton) Terrell. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1959. After school he proudly served his country in the United States Army. In 1963 he was honorably discharged from the army and returned to Winfield.

Vernon was united in marriage to Shiela Spencer on June 4, 1965 at Grandview United Methodist Church north of Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield where Vernon worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Cowley County and Sumner County.

He was a member of the American Legion in Winfield. He enjoyed woodworking.

His family includes:
His wife: Shiela Terrell of Winfield;
His daughters: Geri Neises and husband, Lawrence of Covington, WA; Kitra Terrell of Winfield;
His grandchildren: Kyle Neises of Winfield; Allison Neises of Pittsburg; Layne Duncan of Winfield; and
His brothers: Don Terrell of Moses Lake, WA; Kennith Terrell of Winfield;

In addition to his parents, Vernon was preceded in death by his sisters, Lorraine Hoover and Gertrude Shelburn.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial has been established in Vernon's name for the Wounded Warrior Program. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
