Verda Elaine Jones, 75, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2023, at her home.

Born September 17, 1947, in Winfield, she was the daughter of James and Jessie (Booth) Callison.  She was raised and received her education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School.  Verda was united in marriage to Gary L. Jones on July 18, 1965, in Winfield, where the couple made their home for their entire marriage.  Verda worked at Binney & Smith Crayola Factory, starting on the floor and working her way up to the office.  She retired when the company closed the Winfield plant in 1997.  Following retirement, Verda worked as a secretary at an aircraft business in Wellington, the Montgomery Elevator Company in Strother Field, and KanPak in Arkansas City.  Gary preceded her in death on April 17, 2005.

Verda was a member of the Binney & Smith 25 year club.  She enjoyed reading, dancing, and making fudge for her family for Christmas.  Verda loved M&Ms, especially the yellow ones.

Her family includes numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, in-laws, cousins, and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Verda was preceded in death by her sister Marilyn Meadows and brother James Callison.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 23, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service.  Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery.  A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M.  The family will greet visitors from 4 to 6 that evening.

A memorial has been established in Verda's name for the Salvation Army.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
