Vera E. Trail, 81, of Burden, Kansas, passed away Friday morning, November 17, 2023, at Winfield Senior Living.

Born April 5, 1942, in Wichita, Kansas, she was the daughter of Bill and Betty (Whitson) Trail.  When she was 13 years old, she moved to Burden to live with her Uncle Kenny and Aunt Juanita and family.  She was raised and received her education in Burden, graduating from Central of Burden High School.  After high school, Vera worked several jobs in the Burden community before beginning her career in the kitchen at Central of Burden school.  She remained at the school for over 20 years, retiring as the Head Cook.

She was a member of Cambridge Baptist Church.  She enjoyed shopping at Wal-Mart, reading, spending time with her two dogs, Penny and Penny, and cooking for family during the holidays.   She also enjoyed traveling, taking trips to visit family in Hawaii, West Virginia, Maryland, and Reno, Nevada. Vera requests that each day you take time to tell your family that you love them.

In addition to her numerous cousins and other extended family, Vera is survived by her best friends, Cindy Martin, Gail Littrell, and Teresa Cannon.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Burden Cemetery.  A visitation is scheduled at Miles Funeral Service on Tuesday from 4 to 8 P.M.  The family will greet friends from 4 to 6 that evening.

A memorial has been established in Vera's name for Cambridge Baptist Church.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
