VERA TANNER, 89, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday afternoon, December 9, 2010 at Good Samaritan Village in Winfield.
Born on September 16, 1921 in Rock, Kansas she was the daughter of Austin Burr and Verna D. (Falkingham) Counts. She was raised and received her education in Rock, attending Green Valley School. She later attended Winfield High School.
Vera was united in marriage to Charles Tanner on October 21, 1941 in Perry, Oklahoma. The couple made their home on a farm in rural New Salem, before moving to the Winfield area, where she was a homemaker and enjoyed bowling. Mr. Tanner preceded her in death in 1987.

Her sister: Irene Hix of Winfield;
Her brother: Howard Lee Counts and wife, Barbara of Akron, OH; and
A host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband Vera was preceded in death by 3 brothers: John Counts; Earl Counts; Paul Counts; and her sister: Elsie Whaley.
A private family service will take place at a later date.
