Vera Louise Howard, 84, of Douglass, Kansas, passed away Monday evening, September 17, 2012 at her home.
Born January 27, 1928 in Winfield, Kansas, she was the daughter of Ralph and Coral Warmbrodt and Mabel Griffith. She was raised and received her education in Winfield. After high school she attended and graduated from Venus Academy of Beauty Culture in Wichita. She then began working as a beautician at Bel-Mar Beauty Salon in Winfield.
Vera was united in marriage to Lloyd E. Howard on February 16, 1954 in Winfield. The couple made their home on the family farm north of Douglass, Kansas. They continued farming and raising their family on the farm until retiring in 2001. After retiring they spent the winter months at Victoria Palms Resort in Donna, Texas, where they enjoyed dancing and working on crafts.
Vera was a member of the Douglass United Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary Post 10, The Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. She enjoyed dancing, painting, traveling, and working in her flower garden.

Her husband: Lloyd Howard of the home;
Her sons: Richard Howard of Rockport, TX; Ronald Howard and wife, Nancy of Douglass;
Her daughter: Deborah DeHoff and husband, Kenneth of Douglass;
Her 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Vera was preceded in death by her son Lloyd "Buster" Howard Jr.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, September 19, 2012 from 4 to 8. The family will greet visitors from 6 to 7 that evening.
Memorials have been established in Mrs. Howard's name for Harry Hynes Hospice and for the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
