VADA L. HOLT, 90, longtime Atlanta, Kansas resident, passed away Sunday morning, June 1, 2008 at the Dexter Care Center.

Born on March 15, 1918 in Atlanta, Kansas, she was the daughter of T.W. and Laura (Spears) Wayman. She was raised and received her education in Atlanta and graduated from Atlanta High School in 1936.

She was united in marriage on April 21, 1937 to Wilbur E. Holt in Winfield, Kansas. The couple made their home in rural Atlanta where they farmed. Vada was a fulltime homemaker. Mr. Holt preceded her in death in 1994.

Vada was a member of the Prairie View United Methodist Church where she was very active with the church youth group. She was also involved with the Polo 4-H Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family and handwork, especially crocheting and embroidery.

Her daughters: Marilyn Hahn and husband Warren of Atlanta, KS; and Judy Coachman and husband Joseph of Salina, KS;
Her foster sons: Donald Russell and wife Audrey of San Dimas, CA; and Robert Hill and wife Debra of Wichita, KS;
Her grandchildren: Marci Moore and husband Doug; Sheryl Hervey and husband Roy; Jeff Holt and wife Julie; Keith Holt and wife Lori; David Holt and wife Lynne; Jill Holt, Joelle Coachman, Jonathan Coachman and wife Amy; Jamin Coachman and Jabeth Coachman; and
Her 17 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Hahn.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, June 6, 2008 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at the Atlanta Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M., Thursday, June 5, 2008. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M., that evening.

A memorial has been established in Vada's name for the Prairie View United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
