TREVA L. (DYER) SKINNER, 93, resident of Cumbernauld Village in Winfield, passed away Friday, November 26, 2010.
Born on February 20, 1917 in Burden, Kansas, she was the daughter of John Calvin and Minnie (Darr) Dyer. She was raised in Burden and graduated from Burden High School.
She was united in marriage to Harold E. "Jack" Skinner in 1935. The couple made their home in various Kansas communities and returned to Burden after World War II. Treva was employed at the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center for several years and later ran Skinner's Market with her husband.
In 1971, the couple moved to Alabama where she enrolled and graduated from Opelika Technical College as an LPN. Upon returning to Burden, Mrs. Skinner worked at William Newton Memorial Hospital mainly in the nursery. The couple moved to Winfield in 1989 and she retired in 1992. Mr. Skinner preceded her in death in 1997.
She was a member of the Burden Baptist Church for many years and joined the Evangelical Free Church after moving to Winfield. She enjoyed her family and crocheting.

Her daughter: Sharon Taylor and husband Bill of Winfield, KS:
Her 7 grandchildren: Robert Shetlar, Shannon (Shetlar) Ryan, Elizabeth (Skinner) King, Jerol Skinner, Wade Skinner, Jason Skinner and Chad Skinner; and
Her 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Earl Dyer; her sisters, Hazel Glass and Ermal Bolack; and her grandson, Aaron Shetlar.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at the Burden Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 30, 2010. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M., that evening.
A memorial has been established in Treva's name for the Hope Fund at Cumbernauld Village. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
