Obituary

TRACY R. SPENCER, 64, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Monday afternoon, July 5, 2010 at his home.

Born June 29, 1946 in Winfield, Kansas he was the son of Billy and Jean (Tuggle) Spencer. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School. Tracy worked for the Burden Newspaper after high school and for Morton Buildings for three years. He was united in marriage to Linda Bonesteel on June 11, 1967 at the Burden United Methodist Church. The couple made their home in Winfield. Tracy made his career at the Mulvane Newspaper as an Advertising Salesman for over 35 years.

Tracy joined the United States Navy on January 10, 1967. He was honorably discharged from active duty on October 4, 1968. He then joined the Naval Reserves which he was honorably discharged from on September 6, 1971.

He was a member of the Men's Bowling Association in Winfield and enjoyed playing "Penny Poker" every Tuesday evening, fishing, taking care of the yard and watching television, especially sports. Tracy loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

His family includes:
His wife: Linda Spencer of the home;
His sons: Tim Spencer and wife, Elizabeth of Winfield; and Tyler Spencer and wife, Erika of Wichita;
His parents: Billy and Jean Spencer;
His brother: Terry Spencer and wife, Melody of Little Elm, Texas;
His sister: Sharon Vanderpool and husband, Bob of Arkansas City;
His special niece: Rachel Skov of Winfield; and
His grandchildren: Nattalee, Mary and Luke Spencer and another on the way;

Funeral Services will be held on Friday afternoon, July 9, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at the Burden Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 4 to 8. The family will greet visitors from 6 to 8 that evening.

A Memorial has been established in Tracy's name for Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
