Toy Phoutthavong, 80, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 11, 2021 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Born January 10, 1941 in Samneua, Laos, she was the daughter of Bounmy and Sim Phoutthavong. She was raised and received her education in Laos.
Toy was united in marriage to Khamtanh Phoutthavong on July 2, 1957 in Mouang Lap, Laos. The family moved to Caney, Kansas on February 8, 1980. In May 1980, they moved to Winfield where they made their home. Khamtanh preceded her in death on September 12, 2003.
She worked at the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center in housekeeping for ten years. She then worked as a housekeeper at Good Samaritan Nursing Home for several years before retiring.
Her family includes her sons, Phengphanh Phoutthavong and wife, Khambay of Winfield; Phomma Phoutthavong and wife, Nee of San Diego; Phasonk Phoutthavong and wife, Moo of Seattle, WA; her daughters, Melinda Vilayphone and husband, John of Winfield; Phimphone Bruner and husband, Matthew of Broken Arrow, OK; her 17 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother in Winfield; and three brothers in Laos.
Buddhist funeral ceremonies will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service.
