Thomas E. Toon, 81, of Burden, Kansas, passed away Wednesday afternoon, September 2, 2020 at his daughter's home in Winfield.

Born July 8, 1939 in Wichita, Kansas, he was the son of James and Alma (Leis) Toon. He was raised and received his education in Wichita. Tom enlisted in the United States Marine Corps directly following high school. While stationed in San Diego, California, Tom met Pamela Inch. He and Pamé were united in marriage on November 19, 1960 in San Diego. The couple returned to Wichita following Tom's honorable discharge. He was a co-owner and operator for Price Truck Line beginning in 1960.

In 1962, the couple moved to Winfield. In 1979, they moved their family to the family farm in Burden. Tom continued with Price Truck Line until 1989. He then worked as a farmer on the family farm. Pamé preceded him in death on January 4, 2009.

Tom was a member of the Catholic Church. He got great enjoyment spending time and watching his grandchildren's activities.

His family includes his sons, Tim Toon of Winfield; Joe Toon and wife, Candy of Burden; Thomas James Toon of Burden; his daughters, Tambra Toon Golightley of Winfield; Karon Toon of Winfield; his grandchildren, Josh Golightley of Winfield; Robie Golightley of Winfield; Haley Golightley of Winfield; Jordan Hargett and husband, Kyler of Clearwater; Chauncey Toon of Wichita; Jamie Linnabur and husband, Luke of Wichita; Jessie Toon, Grace Toon, Patrick Toon, and Michael Toon all of Winfield; Lane Toon, Garrett Toon, Shay Toon, Josey Toon, Trace Toon, Izzy Toon, and Delcy Toon all of Burden; and his great grandchildren, Aiden Golightley, Kendal Golightley, Jackson Golightley, Adelyn Golightley, Breckyn Golightley, Ellary Hargett, and Ingnatius Hargett.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

The Rosary will be recited at Miles Funeral Service on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. A graveside service and Military Committal Honors will follow at New Salem Cemetery at 11:00 A.M. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5 to 7. The family will greet visitors during this time.

A memorial has been established in Tom's name for Home Health and Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
