Theresa M. Corle, 75, formerly of Wichita and Arkansas City, KS, passed away Dec. 24, 2020, at William Newton Hospital in Winfield, KS.
She was born on April 9, 1945, in Wellington, KS, to August and Louise (Clark) Erker. She was raised and educated in Wellington graduating from Wellington High School in 1963. She later attended Cowley County Community College graduating in 1985 with a degree in Cosmetology.
Theresa married Charles Wilbur Corle on Sept. 5, 1964, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Wellington. Theresa spent her life as a homemaker. She was active in the Altar Society at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Arkansas City. She was also very active as a 4-H community leader. The family lived in Arkansas City from 1964 to 2001 and moved to Wichita in 2001. In 2019 Theresa and Charles moved to Winfield. She loved to bake bread and to sew. She was an active member of the Sewing Guild in Wichita. During her years in Wichita, she sewed and donated more than 4,000 bags, blankets, quilts, and hospice gowns to many charitable organizations.
Her family includes her husband Charles Wilbur Corle, Winfield, daughters Ronda Corle, Wichita, Marla Corle, Winfield, son Alan Corle, Wichita, sister Joann Downum, brother Edwin Erker, Wellington, and her grandchildren, Olivia Voorhis, New York, Amelia Voorhis, Wichita, Brenton Lambert, Kansas City, and Allessandra Corle, San Antonio, TX.
In addition to her parents, Theresa was preceded in death by sister Bernadine Hunt, brother-in-law Larry Hunt, and sister-in-law Brenda Erker.
Private family burial will take place at Parker Cemetery in Arkansas City under the direction of Miles Funeral Service in Winfield.
A memorial has been established in Theresa's name at The Sewing Guild, Wichita Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
