Thelma L. Wood, 62, of Dexter, Kansas, passed away Wednesday evening, March 28, 2012, at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita, Kansas.
Born October 5, 1949, in El Dorado, Kansas, she was the daughter of Raymond and Velma (Lemon) Bing. She was raised and received her education in Latham, Kansas, graduating from Bluestem High School in 1967.
Thelma was united in marriage to Anthony "Tony" Wood in Latham. The couple made their home south of Dexter, where they farmed, ranched and raised their family. Mr. Wood preceded her in death in 1979. Thelma later went to work as a cook for the Grouse Valley Manor in Dexter. In 1993 she met her longtime companion Mark Robinson. The couple remained together in Dexter.
She was an enthusiastic participant in the Black Dog Festival in Dexter for many years. Thelma enjoyed cooking, sewing, fishing, hunting, and attending her grandchildren's ball games. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Her brothers: Jim Bing and wife, Sylvia of Latham; Roy Bing and wife, Mary of Latham;
Her sister: Joyce Biggers of Latham;
Her grandchildren: Sage Dierks; Luke Dierks; Tristan Wolken; Whitney Wolken; and
Numerous nieces and nephews.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 2, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Dexter Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, April 1, 2012 from 1 to 5 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 1 to 3 that afternoon.
