THELMA F. SMITH, 82, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away early Friday morning, February 1, 2013 at Medicalodges in Arkansas City.

Born September 29, 1930 in Ashton, Kansas, she was the daughter of Earl and Susie (Smith) Fultz. She attended elementary schools in Braman and Blackwell, Oklahoma and high school in Blackwell, Oklahoma.

Thelma was united in marriage to William Riley "Bill" Smith on June 16, 1948 in Newkirk, Oklahoma. They lived in Wichita, Kansas and Braman, Oklahoma for several years before making their home east of Winfield in 1961. They owned and operated the family gas station, Smith Service, as well as working the family farm. Mrs. Smith worked at Binney & Smith for 28 years, retiring in 1997. Bill preceded her in death on February 1, 1986.

She was a member of the Church of Christ in Winfield. She also belonged to the Binney & Smith 25 year Club. Thelma loved working on the farm and working at Binney & Smith and enjoyed being active in her church.

Her sons: Jim Smith of Winfield; and Alan Smith of Winfield;
Her daughter: Frances Warner of Winfield;
Her sister: Wanda Pingry of Arkansas City;
Her 2 granddaughters; 3 great grandchildren; and
Numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Thelma was preceded in death by her son, Charles Smith, her brothers, LeRoy, Kenneth, Victor, and Calvin Fultz, and her sisters, Earlene Rohrs and her infant sister.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 4 to 8 P.M.

A memorial has been established in Thelma's name for the American Alzheimer's Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
