Obituary

Thelma Deloris Grimes, 95, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 29, 2015 at Winfield Senior Living Community.

Born June 11, 1919 in Webb City, Missouri, she was the daughter of Ernest and Martha (Peters) Jackson. She was raised and received her education in Webb
City, graduating Webb City High School in 1936.

Thelma was united in marriage to Joseph Wayne Grimes. The couple made their first home in Dunaway, Missouri and later moved to Wichita. Thelma worked at Beech Aircraft in manufacturing. Joseph preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Church of Christ as well as the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She enjoyed knitting, making quilts, bowling and spending time with and taking care of her family.

Her family includes:
Her son: Wayne Grimes and wife, Cheryl of Wichita;
Her daughter: Barbara Long and husband, Jerry of Oxford;
Her brothers: Bill Jackson of Webb City, MO; Poss Jackson of Aurora, MO;
Her 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; and
Numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Thelma was preceded in death by her daughter, Jo Beverly Ryles and her brothers, Bob and Roy Jackson.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Graveside Services will be held that afternoon at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin, Missouri at 3:00 P.M. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 4 to 8 P.M.
