Teresa A. Meals, 74, of Arkansas City, Kansas, died February 26, 2023 at Winfield Rest Haven.

Born June 13, 1948, in Manhattan, she was the daughter of John F. and Esther E. (Evans) Slaven. She grew up outside of Wellsville and Ottawa, Kansas, and received her education in Wellsville, graduating from Wellsville High School in 1966. She then attended Ottawa University for a short time before attending Kansas State University.

Teresa began working for the Federal Reserve Bank in records and statistics. She worked over 40 years, retiring at the age of 65. Teresa was an avid K-State fan, and enjoyed flowers, reading, and loved to shop.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by her fiance Ernie Eckert in 1989.

Survivors include her daughter Sheryl Jordan of Overland Park; granddaughter Sydney Jordan and fiance, Lance Vaillancourt of Lenexa; grandson Ian Jordan of Overland Park; sisters, Becky Maddern and husband, Bob of Kansas City, MO; Nancy Taylor and husband, Tim of Peoria; nephew Zack Maddern and significant other, Maria Dominick of Kansas City, MO; niece Lauren Taylor of Omaha, NE; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Private memorial services will be held in Ottawa at a later date.

Memorials have been established in Teresa's name for Harry Hynes Hospice and for the Cancer Center of Kansas. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service.
