Ted Edgar
Terhune
August 20, 1939 – May 16, 2018
Ted Edgar Terhune, 78, passed away at his home in Winfield, Kansas, Tuesday, May 15, 2018.
Ted was born in Cicero, Kansas August 20, 1939 to Melvin and Polly (Smith) Terhune. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1957. He had a love for fixing up old cars which went well with his numerous jobs at filling stations during high school. Ted then joined the Navy from 1961 until 1967 and was stationed out of California. He moved back to Wellington for several years and worked at Clarks Manufacturing. He eventually moved to Winfield and worked at Kline Motors for over 25 years until his retirement. Ted enjoyed helping people by volunteering at several organizations around Winfield as well as the hospital. He was always in a good mood, happy, and was fun to be around. One could always count on hearing a good story with lots of insight. He will be dearly missed by many. Ted kept in good health by walking several miles every day. He often would joke that he put more miles on his tennis shoes than he did his car each year.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Terhune and Polly Woods, stepfather Vernon C. Woods, brothers Elmo Terhune and wife, Jeanie (Metz) and Jimmy Terhune.
He is survived by his sister Ella Mae Watson of Wellington; nieces and nephews Carley (Chuck) Cole, Julie (Russ) Mirt, April Terhune, Terry (Lori) Terhune, Toby Terhune, Wesley (Susan) Terhune, and Lori (Greg) Goodson; and many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
The family will hold graveside memorial services and Military Committal Honors at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Wellington on June 9, 2018 at 11:00 A.M.Visits: 0
