Obituary

Ted "Bud" Long, passed from this life on December 17, 2019, he was 71 years of age.

Bud was born on February 8, 1948 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. He was the youngest of three boys born to C.B. Long and Eva Niblack Long Lawrence. Bud spent his early childhood on the family farm near Hewins, Kansas. He attended both Cedar Vale and Sedan public schools and graduated from Sedan High School in 1966.

Bud was united in marriage to "Earnestene Annette" Shockey on December 27, 1967. The couple had two children, Jennifer and Chad.

Bud worked for Cessna Aircraft Company at Strother Field until its closing. He then worked in Winfield for Rubbermaid Industries until his retirement.

Bud enjoyed his family, friends, cattle, horses, his dog "JeeLee" and a cold beer, but not necessarily in that order. He was a cowboy through and through, holding himself and others to a specific standard and if you didn't measure up, then he did not spend thought or time on you. But if he liked you, there was no one better to have in your corner or at your back.

Bud was preceded in death by his father C.B. Long, mother Eva Long Lawrence, beloved stepdad Gene Lawrence, and brother Larry Long.

He is survived by Annette Long, his wife of almost 52 years; daughter Jennifer Long-Hermesch and husband, Leo of Eureka; son Chad Long and wife, Brandy of Winfield; and brother David Long and wife, Sherry of Mustang, OK.

A memorial gathering of family and friends is planned for a future date. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that the next time you see a shiny black Australian Shepherd or a good-looking horse, that you smile and say, "Yep, Bud would have liked that one."
