Obituary

Tammie L. Evinger, 56, of Dexter, Kansas, passed away Friday evening, March 12, 2021 at William Newton Hospital.

Born March 14, 1964 in Dexter, she was the daughter of Robert Lee "Bob" Evinger and Evelyn Eileen Henry. She was raised and received her education in Dexter, graduating from Dexter High School in 1982.

Tammie learned to be a Candy Maker at a young age from her grandfather who owned and operated Henry's Candy Store in Dexter. After high school she followed her love of candy making and joined the family business. Tammie enjoyed working with her grandfather, mother, and her sister Robyn. Tammie and Robyn followed in their grandfather and mother's footsteps and currently owned and operated the Henry's Candy Store. Tammie enjoyed playing pool, bowling, writing poetry, and shooting off fireworks with friends on the Fourth of July in the parking lot of the candy store.

Her family includes her sister Robyn Evinger of Dexter; her stepfather Russell Pudden of Dexter; and her aunt and uncle Don and Belle Evinger of Arkansas City; her dog Gizzy; and numerous cousins.

In addition to her parents and grandparents, Tammie was preceded in death by her aunts, Becky Pinkston and Lucille Henry, and her uncle Pat Henry.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Dexter Cemetery under the direction of Miles Funeral Service.

A memorial has been established in Tammie's name for the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
