Tamara Ann "Tammy" Weller, 57, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday, February 26, 2021 at her home.
Born May 17, 1963 in Topeka, Kansas, she was the daughter of Richard and Janet (Kotapish) Weller. She was raised and received her education in Topeka, graduating from Topeka West High School in 1981. Tammy worked at KNI in Topeka and transferred to the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center in Winfield. She worked at the state hospital until its closing in 1998. She then worked at various nursing facilities as a caregiver. Tammy attended Friends University where she obtained a Bachelor degree in Education. She then worked as a para and substitute teacher for many years for USD 465.
When her son was young, she was very involved in Boy Scouts of America and was a scout leader for Troop #318 in Winfield. Tammy was a recipient of a habitat home and remained involved and very supportive of Habitat for Humanity. She loved gardening, especially her tomato plants and could often be found in her yard working. She also enjoyed working for the Walnut Valley Festival and worked at the roasted corn stand for many years. Tammy loved planning yearly trips with her son, Jory, and traveling as much as possible. She especially enjoyed the beach, particularly Tybee Island in Savannah, Georgia.
Her family includes her son Jory Weller of Branson, MO; her brothers, Scot Weller and wife, Sheryl of Wichita; Ty Weller and wife, Nicole of Pinehurst, NC; and her nephews, Landon and Jake Weller.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Janet Weller.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service.
A memorial has been established in Tammy's name for the Winfield Habitat for Humanity. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
