SYLVIA Y. READING, 75, of Burden, Kansas, passed away Tuesday evening, August 21, 2012 at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.
Born August 25, 1936 in Parsons, Kansas, she was the daughter of Charles E. Sr., and Irene (Aldridge) Minor. She was raised and received her education in Parsons, graduating from Parsons High School.
Sylvia was united in marriage to Charles C. Reading on February 28, 1956 in Castle Rock, Colorado. She worked for Mile Post, a division of Santa Fe Railroad in Bloomington, California for ten years. She later worked for Denny's West in Wichita for thirteen years. She worked in food service all her life and retired at the age of 72 in 2010.
Mrs. Reading was a member of the Family Worship Center Church. She was an avid reader. She also enjoyed fishing, working crossword puzzles and her pug dog, Dink.

Her son: Gary Reading and wife, Kathy of Bloomington, CA;
Her daughters: Tammy McQuitty of Wichita; Naomi Reading of the great Springfield, MO area; and Rosemary Jones of the greater Kansas City area;
Her brother: Charles E. Minor, Jr. of Burden;
Her sisters: Charlene Walton of Sherman, TX; and Lynn Reeves of Parsons;
Her nephew and niece: Bill and Norma Young of Wichita; and
A host of other nieces and nephews, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Vernon Joe Minor.
The family will hold private memorial services at a later date. Miles Funeral Service in Winfield is in charge of arrangements.
A Memorial has been established in Sylvia's name for the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
