SYLVA E. PAULSEN, 84, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday evening, March 12, 2008, at William Newton Hospital.
Born on May 13, 1923, in Topeka, Kansas, she was the daughter of Edward and Sylva (Boren) Rambeaux. She was raised and educated in Topeka.
She was united in marriage on September 28, 1946 to Arnold Paulsen at the Presbyterian Church in Chicago, Illinois. The couple made their first home in Chicago. The couple later moved to Kansas City in 1956 where Arnold worked for the Santa Fe Railroad. As a young person, Sylva worked as a radio speaker. She then made her career as a homemaker after marriage.
Sylva enjoyed traveling and sight-seeing, and was a member of the Methodist Church.

Her son: Larry Paulsen and wife, Debra of Victorville, CA;
Her daughter: Sylva C. Maxted and husband, Arthur of Wichita;
Her brother: Richard Rambeaux of Virginia; and
Her 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Edward Rambeaux, Larry Rambeaux, and her sister Louise Thompson.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 17, 2008 at 2:00 P.M., at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at the Kansas Veteran's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, March 16, from 1 to 5. The family will greet friends from 1 to 3.
A Memorial has been established in Mrs. Paulsen's name for the Kansas Veterans Home. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
