Steven Scott Grimes, 60, of Arkansas City, Kansas, passed away Tuesday morning July 7, 2015 at South Central Regional Medical Center in Arkansas City.
Born August 6, 1954 in Arkansas City, he was the son of Loren and Dorothy (Bagby) Grimes. He was raised and received his education in Arkansas City, graduating from Arkansas City High School in 1972. After high school, Steve went to work for Santa Fe Railroad for a short time before returning to Ark City where he attended and graduated from Cowley County Community College. He then moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma and went to Okmulgee Technical Institute where he received a degree in Jewelry and Watch Repair. He then returned to Ark City and went to work for his father at Grimes Jewelry Store.
On April 23, 1983 Steve was united in marriage to Cinda Roberts at Tisdale United Methodist Church. The couple made their home in Ark City and Steve continued to work with his father until 2003 when he purchased the jewelry store and renamed it The Diamond Store. In 2007, he began working for Watco in Wichita and later, Farmrail and Rail Pros.
Steve had been a member of Ark City First Assembly of God for over ten years and was recently attending Hillcrest Bible Baptist Church. He was a past member of the Ark City Chamber of Commerce and Merchants on the Move. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed golfing, scuba diving, collecting many clocks and watches and collecting Garfield, Three Stooges and John Wayne memorabilia. He also enjoyed history, especially Judeo and Christian history and loved witnessing to people about Jesus Christ.

His brother: Tom Grimes and wife, Jennifer of Norman, OK;
His niece: Mason Grimes of Edmond, OK; and
His nephew: Ethan Grimes of Norman, OK.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Loren Grimes, and his uncle, Max Grimes.
The family will hold memorial services at Hillcrest Bible Baptist Church on Monday, July 13, 2015 at 3:00P.M. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
A Memorial has been established in Steve's name for On Time Ministry for the benefit of Hogar De Gracia Children's Trafficking Rescue in Juarez, Mexico. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
