Steven Douglas "Doug" Messer, 53, of Udall, Kansas, passed away Friday, June 17, 2011 at his home in Udall.

Born December 29, 1957 in Pineville, Kentucky, he was the son of Paul and Sally (Deaton) Messer. He was raised and received his education in Heidrick, Kentucky, graduating from Knox Central High School in 1975.

Doug was united in marriage to Delora Jane Gilbert on August 11, 1978 in Tazewell, Tennessee. The couple made their first home in Heidrick, Kentucky. In 1979 they moved to Wichita, Kansas where Doug went to work for Cessna Aircraft. They later moved to Udall, Kansas, and he went to work at Boeing Aircraft.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Udall. He enjoyed all different sports, especially playing basketball.

His sister-in-law: Gillian Messer of Belton, MO; and
Many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth Messer.
