Steven Michael
Butters
December 18, 1953 – August 6, 2020
Steven Michael Butters, 66, of Naples, FL, passed away on August 6, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.
Steve was born December 18th, 1953, in Wellington, KS. His family moved to Winfield when he was a young boy, and he graduated from Winfield High in 1971. Steve married his high school sweetheart, Sally, on January 4th, 1972. Steve earned a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Emporia State University and Rockhurst University. Steve was a longtime partner with Deloitte, where he served clients around the world. During this adventure they called the following places home: Winfield, KS; Emporia, KS; Prairie Village, KS; Bryant, AR; Salina, KS; Jersey City, NJ; Wilton, CT; Tokyo, Japan; Shanghai, China and finally retired in Naples, FL.
Steve enjoyed golf, restaurants and spending time with friends and family across the world. Steve was a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals fan, who thoroughly enjoyed the Super Bowl victory of 2020 and the World Series victory in 2015. Steve ate at some of the finest restaurants around the world and fully savored those great meals (and fine wine) with family and friends. During his retirement, he loved playing golf and hanging with his buddies, Jack Ribeiro, Kelly Paffel, John Manley and Bill Rogers. Steve and Sally's time in Asia was some of the best and most unique years. Steve and Sally both made life-long friends that they still cherish.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Carl Jack and Nola Aileen Butters (Winfield, KS) and his sister Susan Colleen Steadham (Rose Hill, KS). He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sally Jo Butters (nee Steadham); his three children Bo (Cyndi) Butters of Belleville, IL; Jonathan (Jennifer Goldman) Butters of Kansas City, MO; and Betsy (Seph) Bellerive of Spring Hill, KS. His six grandchildren: Olivia and Eli Butters; Sydney and Stella Butters; and Emily Jo and Audrey Bellerive. His brothers Jim (Brenda) Butters and John (Debra) Butters of Winfield, KS.
