Obituary

STELLA M. THOMPSON, 81, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away Friday night, April 26, 2013 at her home.

Born October 15, 1931 in Zenda, Kansas, she was the daughter of Lewis "Doc" and Aletha (Hoyt) Doolittle. She was raised and received her education in Medicine Lodge, Kansas until moving to Udall during her freshman year of high school. She graduated from Udall High School in 1949.

Stella was united in marriage to Roy Thompson on September 19, 1950 in Wichita. She worked for Medco Photo and Beach Aircraft for a few years before having children. She then became a homemaker, taking care and raising her family. After the kids were grown, She received her LPN License from Vo-Tech school and worked as a LPN until her retirement in 1991. After retirement she and Roy moved to warmer temperatures in Texas and back to Topeka a few years ago when Stella's health began to fail.

Stella was active in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts when her children were young. During retirement, she was a member of the East Gate Amigo Quilters. She enjoyed reading, painting, sewing and traveling.

Her family includes:
Her husband: Roy Thompson of Topeka;
Her son: Doug Thompson of Prattville, AL (currently working overseas);
Her daughter: Darcy Bonjour and husband, Karl of Topeka, KS;
Her brother: Paul Doolittle and wife, Zoe of Winfield;
Her grandchildren: Kimberly Swader and husband, Derek; and Kevin Mullinix and wife, Kelly; and
Her great grandchildren: Carter, Camden, Kinsley and Caleb.

In addition to her parents, Stella was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Doolittle and her sister, Wilmeta Ruiz.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Wilmot Cemetery north of Winfield. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, prior to the service. The family will greet visitors from 12:30 until service time.

A Memorial has been established in Stella's name for Midland Care Hospice in Topeka. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service.
