Shirley Mae Travis, 71, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday evening, April 5, 2017 at her home.
Born April 24, 1945 in Delaware, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of William Virgil and Mildred Virginia (Plummer) Carson. She was raised and received her education in northern Oklahoma, Coffeyville, Kansas, and Akron, Kansas.
She had been married to Bill Travis in Winfield, Kansas. Shirley worked as a CNA for the State of Kansas and later Good Samaritan Society in Winfield. She was baptized into General Assembly Church Of The First Born on October 5, 1961. She enjoyed Native American dancing at White Eagle, Standing Bear and Chilocco in northern Oklahoma.
Her family includes:
Her sister: Josephine Toles of Stroud, OK;
Her friend: Stephen Martinez and family of Winfield; and
Her many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by five brothers, Bob, Marvin, Norman, Jack and Raymond Plummer and a sister, Ivalee Burgman.
Private family services will take place at a later date. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
