Shirley S. Stout, 89, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Monday afternoon, November 23, 2020 at South Central Kansas Medical Center.

Born March 14, 1931 in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Ivanhoe and Agnes (Rule) Stout. He was raised and received his education in Winfield where he graduated high school. Following school, Shirley joined the United States National Guard and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in the 1960's.

He was united in marriage to Ina Marie Stamper on September 2, 1950 in Newkirk, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Winfield and Shirley worked at Coleman, Beech Aircraft, and operated a gas station. He then worked at Cessna Aircraft for a short time. Shirley returned to Beech Aircraft where he remained for over 40 years, until he retired as a fabricator in 1995. The family moved to the family farm east of Winfield, where they raised cattle, ducks, goats, and turkeys. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, water skiing, and remodeling and building homes.

His family includes his wife Ina Marie Stout of Winfield; his sons, Gregory Stout of Winfield; Thomas Stout and wife, Kathy of Dexter; Brian Stout and wife, Gwen of Winfield; his daughter-in-law Treva Stout of Winfield; and 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Shirley was preceded in death by five sisters and his daughter Shirell Jordan.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 5, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Friday, December 4, 2020 from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 4 to 6 that evening. The family requests attendees wear masks and practice social distancing.

Memorials have been established in Shirley's name for the Winfield FFA and Winfield 4-H. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
