SHIRLEY I. CARLE, 66, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Monday afternoon, May 14, 2012 at the Kansas Medical Center in Andover, Kansas.

Born on November 10, 1945 in Fairview, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Marion B. and Pansy J. (Brownell) Bromlow. She was raised in Fairview and later Guymon, Oklahoma and Pampa, Texas. Her grandmother Bromlow and stepmother Pernie (Clinkenbeard) Bromlow helped raise her.

She was united in marriage to Edward L. Jones in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was employed at the local bowling alley. She later worked at the Horseshoe Club which she eventually managed. The couple divorced.

Shirley married Don Ledford, Jr., in 1972 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and they continued to manage the Horseshoe Club. She was employed at a plastics manufacturing plant and Dana Parts while in Oklahoma City. She later managed the Circle K. The couple divorced.

She moved to Winfield in 1986 and was the activities director at the Good Samaritan Society retiring in the early 1990's.

Shirley married William Gregory who preceded her in death in 2009.

She attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Winfield. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and attending their sporting events. She also enjoyed her roses, flowers, reading, crafts, taking road trips, playing cards, dominoes and Bingo. Her true passion was putting others first. She was a mother to all that walked through her doors.

Her daughters: Donna Jones and Betty McKnight of Winfield, KS;
Her brother: Don Bromlow and wife Karen Winfield, KS;
Her sisters: Betty Zimmerle of Longdale, CA; Barbara Fenney of Surprise, AZ; and Cindy Cruz and husband Toby of Wentworth, MO;
Her step-sisters: Patsy Womack of Valencia, CA: and Darlene Ellis of Fountain Valley, CA;
Her grandchildren: Zackerie, Jakeb and Bethany Ledford, Steven, Curtis and Tyler Jones, Christina McKnight; Bryce, Braden and Callie Ledford, Candace Jones, Charlie Fields; and
Her great-grandchildren: Haley McKnight, and Taylor and Jaiden Isreal.
In addition to her parents and husband William, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Marion Junior, Roy and Raymond and her step-sister Bonnie McCrarey.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, May 18, 2012 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Winfield. Interment will be held at 4:00 P.M., Friday at the Bethel Cemetery in Fairview, Oklahoma. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield, Thursday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., that evening.

A memorial has been established in Shirley's name to help defray funeral expenses. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
