Shelly J. Topper, 37, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday afternoon, November 19, 2009 at William Newton Hospital.

Born April 9, 1972, in Aurora, Missouri, she was the daughter of Larry Gene Cornman and Rebecca Louise "Becky" Mahurin. She was raised and received her education in Arkansas City.

Shelly worked at several local restaurants and was a manager of a night club in Wichita.

She was united in marriage to Jason Topper on August 16, 2004 in Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield.

Shelly enjoyed fishing, camping, playing with her dogs and playing on the computer.

Her mother: Becky Louise Mahurin of Winfield;
Her father: Larry Gene Cornman of Missouri;
Her sisters: Lacey Cornman-Smith of Winfield; and Clarissa Munday of Winfield;
Her paternal grandmother: Marcellene Cornman of Missouri;
Her nephews: Justin Wade Smith, Richard Bradshaw, Tyler Dickson and Marquis Lolar; and
Her nieces: Alexandra Smith and Ginny Dickson; and
a grandchild on the way.

Shelly was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Alvin Cornman, her maternal grandparents, Charles and Florence Mahurin, and her step-father, Billy Brooks.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Central Baptist Church in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Tuesday from 4 to 8 P.M. the family will greet visitors during this time.

A Memorial has been established in Shelly's name for the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
