SHARON R. BOWMAN, 72, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday morning, May 15, 2014 at her daughter's home.

Born October 11, 1941 in Dexter, Kansas, she was the daughter of Simeon and Ruth (Wells) Phillips. She was raised and received her education in the Winfield and Udall areas.

Sharon was united in marriage to Jim Bowman on August 9, 1958. To this union, two children were born. The couple later divorced.

Ms. Bowman worked at Binney & Smith until their closing. She also worked at Rubbermaid and lastly at William Newton Hospital in the housekeeping department. She retired from William Newton Hospital in 2003.

Sharon was a member of Central Baptist Church. In the 1960's, she raced go-carts. She enjoyed embroidery as well.

Her daugher: Renee Vargas and husband, Mike of Winfield;
Her son: Mike Bowman and wife, Cathy of Winfield;
Her sisters: Nadine Edwards of Winfield; Janet Austin and husband, Tom of St. Petersburg, FL;
Her grandchildren: Nick & Joe Vargas; Derek Bowman and wife, Sarah; Caitlin and Dylan Bowman all of Winfield; and
Her great grandson: Jensen Bowman.

In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by five brothers, Neal, Arnie, Darrell, and Lester Phillips, and Roy Richardson, and her sister, Helen Brake.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at Central Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Monday evening from 4 to 8 P.M.

Memorials have been established with Central Baptist Church and Gentiva Hospice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
